The Youth Action Project (YAP)
is a prestigious leadership initiative and opportunity designed to amplify youth voices in addressing pressing community issues – with a special focus on youth mental health, empowerment and community development.
The council brings together diverse young leaders who are passionate about creating positive change within their communities.

Calling BUTTE COUNTY high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates (2025-26)
Attend monthly meetings
Participate in monthly council and subcommittee meetings, and ongoing community engagement opportunities (up to 10+ hours total monthly).
Play a vital role
Serve as a member of the youth council and a selected subcommittee. Inform CARE Team programming through feedback and input, and play a vital role in selecting and distributing grant funds for community impact projects and selected philanthropic efforts or recipients.
Pave the way
Empower and uplift youth voices through listening sessions, support for youth-led and youth-centered initiatives, and opportunities for youth input among community leaders and stakeholders.
Member Responsibilities

Attend scheduled meetings

Orientation & welcome training (4-6 hours)

Monthly council meetings at NVCF office (2 hours) & subcommittee meetings

Serve on at least one subcommittee

Participate in relevant community outreach events & represent YAP council

Engage in required leadership trainings

Inform CARE Team youth programming through evaluation analysis and program refinement strategies
