Butte County Local Food network works to create a longlasting food system

New home-sharing nonprofit matches older adults, students, Camp Fire survivors

The Chico E-R covered the Home & Heart nonprofit that matches older adults in Butte County with empty rooms to provide people – students and Camp Fire survivors in particular – with affordable housing in exchange for housework. Northstate Equity Fund created to help minority causes

KRCR News reported on the United Way of Norther California, the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, and NVCF partnership to create the Northstate Equity Fund. The $100,00 being raised for the fund will be granted to help with health, education and financial stability of ethnic groups.

Returning residents grapple with overgrown abandoned neighboring properties

The Chico E-R covers the abandoned properties in the burn scar area and the fire risks the overgrown vegetation presents.
