CLOSED PROGRAMS
Many grant programs, projects and initiatives at NVCF have a finite lifespan. When the work is done, the programs close. Here are a few from the recent past.
Butte Strong
The Butte Strong Fund, a partnership of the North Valley Community Foundation, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Fund, provideed long-term recovery to communities impacted by the 2018 Camp Fire.
North Complex Fire
The Bear/North Complex Fire in 2019 tore through Feather Falls, Berry Creek and other parts of Butte and Plumas counties. In December 2021, the North Complex Fire Grant Program closed after granting a total of $1,167,940 for survivors.
Drought Relief
Starting in 2021, NVCF delivered both drinking water and nonportable water to more than 400 households in Glenn and Tehama counties. The drought relief program was funded by a grant from the state Department of Water Resources and ended in February 2026.
Food Insecurity Relief Fund
The North Valley Community Foundation opened the Food Insecurity Relief Fund in October 2025. It awarded grants to help replenish local food banks. Since the fund’s creation, nearly $100,000 has been awarded to dozens of organizations.
COVID-19
North Valley Community Foundation established the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Rapid Response Fund to help local nonprofit organizations and government agencies on the front lines provide help in Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa counties.
Lead
The Community Leadership Program ran for two years, between 2022 and 2024. Participants attended monthly daylong classes for nine months. Each day session was focused on a single topic – for example, mental health, economic development or culture.
