A team of young people employed by NVCF who bring their unique perspectives to our youth-focused programming.


Youth Action Project: Mini-Grant Program
NVCF’s Youth Advisory Council is excited to announce our Youth Action Project Mini-Grant Program, designed to support grassroots efforts that promote youth mental health, wellness and social connectedness in Butte County.
We believe in empowering local groups and community members to create positive change for young people.
This grant program will award $20,000 total in grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 selected by our Youth Advisory Council members.

Bridge Builders Leadership Program for Youth | For a program designed for junior high school students and led by high school students to build social connectedness.

Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Youth Leadership Academy | For a one-day youth leadership academy designed to promote youth mental health, wellness and social connection. | $1,250 |
Youth Nexus Summit Conference | For a conference which promotes community engagement through youth-initiated projects. | $1,500 |
Wellness Wednesday at Butte County Schools | For a a social emotional learning program for teens who were affected by the Camp Fire. | $1,500 |
Community Housing Improvement Program Team Youth Leaders in Residence | For a program that allows teens to lead activities for younger residents.

Pleasant Valley High School Friday Night Live Morning Wellness Program | For a program which will will organize activities that promote mental health, wellness, substance abuse prevention and social connectedness. | $500 |
Oroville Youth Forge | For scholarships for the youth development program focusing on martial arts.

Haley Music Therapy Summer Sound Lab | For a four-week program for neurodivergent youth that allows them to create songs and music videos.

Gridley High School Care Closets | For a program that will provide hygiene products to students year-round.

Fair View Friday Night Live Climate Wellness Program | For a program that focuses on mental health and substance abuse prevention for about 30 teens.

2025-26 Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC)
is a prestigious leadership initiative and opportunity designed to amplify youth voices in addressing pressing community issues – with a special focus on youth mental health, empowerment and community development. The council brings together diverse young leaders who are passionate about creating positive change within their communities.

Attend monthly meetings
Participate in monthly council and subcommittee meetings, and ongoing community engagement opportunities (up to 10+ hours total monthly).
Play a vital role
Serve as a member of the youth council and a selected subcommittee. Inform Care Team programming through feedback and input, and play a vital role in selecting and distributing grant funds for community impact projects and selected philanthropic efforts or recipients.
Pave the way
Empower and uplift youth voices through listening sessions, support for youth-led and youth-centered initiatives, and opportunities for youth input among community leaders and stakeholders.

Member Responsibilities

Attend scheduled meetings

Orientation & welcome training (4-6 hours)

Monthly council meetings at NVCF office (2 hours) & subcommittee meetings

Serve on at least one subcommittee

Participate in relevant community outreach events & represent YAP council

Engage in required leadership trainings

Inform Care Team youth programming through evaluation analysis and program refinement strategies

2026-27 Application Link
If you will be a high school junior, senior or first-year college student in Butte County and wish to be considered for the NVCF Youth Advisory Council for the 2026-27 academic year, please complete the following application by Friday, June 26, at 5 p.m.
This will be a very competitive process so please be sure to complete your application to the best of your abilities.
