Paradise Recreation & Park District Fund

Message to Donors

Together, we can shape the future of the Paradise Ridge and our other communities — stronger than ever. Please join us to invest in community, hope and long-term resilience for Paradise. The Paradise Recreation and Park District serves more than 50,000 people across roughly 165 square miles of the Sierra-Nevada foothills, covering the Town of Paradise, Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, Concow, and surrounding areas.

Since 1948, PRPD has served more than 50,000 residents across 165 square miles, maintaining dozens of parks, open spaces, trails, recreation centers, swimming pools, ball fields, and community-program facilities.

Since the devastation of the 2018 Camp Fire, PRPD has stepped up to lead long-term recovery and renewal efforts for our community:

Park recovery and natural-space restoration: PRPD continues efforts to rebuild facilities and restore park uses at beloved facilities. PRPD is also embarking on innovative state of the science land management to provide recreational opportunities and nurture habitat.

New green spaces and park expansions: Thanks to grants and donations from generous local residents, PRPD recently acquired parcels to expand existing parks and provide for future wildland and developed parks. These areas span a variety of habitats and provide unique new recreational opportunities. The District is also a key player in developing multiple benefit wildfire risk reduction strategies for the communities that we serve.

Resiliency Programming: Seeing the needs for the community, especially youth, the District now hosts various programs to help connect educational providers to classrooms (Outdoor Education for All), and programs to address these issues and get youth out into nature. Our innovative programs and partnerships with programs such as the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program, Healing Trauma Through Nature, Nature and Forest Therapy, Senior programing, and our Youth Elements programs; deliver expanded outdoor experiences, youth and family programming, and mental-health and community-building support for people still recovering from the trauma of the Camp Fire.

Building for tomorrow: PRPD is advancing plans for updated and new facilities — from modernizing playgrounds and improving district maintenance facilities to rebuilding aquatic centers — as laid out in its recently adopted 2024 Strategic Plan. The Paradise Community Center (PCC) also recently gifted a beautiful new community center to PRPD. This serves as a legacy project for decades to come.

With your support, we can accelerate the development of parks, expand open space and trails, fund programs that help heal trauma, and build new facilities that give residents of all ages a place to connect, thrive, and belong.

Fund Purpose

The fund purpose is to raise money for the support of the recreation programs and park improvements provided by the Paradise Recreation & Park District.
