Message to Donors
Our Challenge: Barriers to Belonging
In the Chico Unified School District (CUSD), over 600 students are experiencing homelessness or living in foster care. This profound instability isolates them, preventing them from accessing essential school and community activities that build self-worth and future success. When a student can't afford a sports uniform, activity fees, or reliable transportation, they are unjustly excluded. We believe instability shouldn't dictate destiny.
Our Solution: Bridges to Belonging Fund
Bridges to Belonging CUSD Homeless and Foster Fund is a vital, targeted initiative that immediately removes these financial and logistical barriers. Funds are distributed through a simple scholarship application, evaluated by CUSD Liaisons, ensuring that resources are allocated directly to students with the highest demonstrated need.
Fund Purpose
The purpose of the Fund shall be to raise money to provide support for children in the Chico Unified School District who are experiencing homelessness or are in foster care. Support will be coordinated through the Homeless/Foster Youth Liaison and will be focused on reducing barriers to participation, such as transportation, supplies, activity fees, and equipment necessary for participation in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities.
