Jordan Allen

I’m a proud Mechoopda tribal member and part of the Two-Spirited community. I grew up in Redding and Chico and have lived in Chico for over 10 years, where a lot of my family also lives. Spending time with them is one of my favorite things on the planet.

I love playing video games, nature, reading, singing and acting. I have my bachelor’s degree in musical theatre and went to school in Los Angeles at American Musical and Dramatic Academy. I’m really excited to be part of the NVCF Cares Crew to help build community with and for youth. Creating safe, welcoming spaces where everyone feels comfortable being themselves has always been important to me, and I’m grateful to be able to do that work here. As someone who has lived a challenging, diverse life, I want to bring my knowledge to our youth and help them grow and learn.

It is difficult to involve Native Americans in mental health. We as a people are not known for asking for help. I want to be that bridge between my people and our youth and live a long, happy life. Depression and anxiety are disproportionately high in Native American communities, driven by historic trauma from colonization. I want to bring cultural relevance, community-based care, resilience building and so much more for my people and our community here in Butte County. My goal is to help create a safe, trusting environment for our youth here. I am so happy to be able to be a part of this team, and cannot wait to build connections, learn and trust those around me. We are all going through a tough time right now, and I can't wait to be there to love and support you along the way.
