Jerry Novotny Journalism Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicant must be committed to pursuing a career in journalism
• Applicant must be a high school senior graduating from a public or private school within the Paradise Ridge area or have graduated from a public or private school within the Paradise Ridge area within the last five years.
• Applicant must have a GPA of 2.8 or better
• The scholarship will be based on 50% need, 25% scholastic achievement and 25% essay.

Must Provide

• The email address of a principal, counselor or teacher who you would like to ask for a letter of recommendation from
• High school transcripts
• Essay: The essay must be typed, double –spaced and signed/dated by the applicant. Write an essay explaining why you want to pursue a career in journalism. (No more than 500 words)

Scholarship Rules and Information

The awarding of this scholarship is at the sole discretion of the North Valley Community Foundation. Awardees must be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) in an accredited college or university. The scholarship must be used during the year immediately following the awarding of the scholarship.
