We are seeking operating funds as OEFA enters a new epoch as a partner of the Feather River Center. Located at the Forebay Aquatic Center (FAC) in the Thermalito North Forebay SRA at Hwy. 70 and Garden Drive in Oroville, the FAC and OEFA have served over 5000 K-12 students in the past 3 years. Now expanding to offering overnight Science Camps at both the North Forebay SRA and Camp Lassen in Butte Meadows we are in need of operating expenses, most importantly to fund a Coordinator. This person would work with schools and various outdoor education providers to develop and implement high-quality, standards-based science programming focusing on learning outdoors as well as providing instruction in boating and water safety. We have found a ‘home’ at the FAC, have a track record of serving area students over the past 3 years, and now are ready to move from volunteers to compensated staffing. As a partner in the Feather River Center and Forebay Aquatic Center, we are part of the Feather River Consolidated Master Plan, with plans to construct a new education and research building, create rowing and sailing regatta courses, and spur economic development and youth programming in Oroville and Butte County. OEFA is a local citizen group founded in 2013 to make each child in Butte County gets at least one outdoor education experience each school year; we are well on our way to make that happen!
