El Rey Theater Alliance

Fund Purpose

To acquire, restore, preserve, and operate the historic El Rey Theater in Chico, California and to carry on other charitable activities associated with this goal.

More Info

The El Rey Theater is a literal jewel in the heart of Chico. It began screening films in 1906 and has done so ever since, making it the oldest continuously operated movie theater in California and third in the US. Not only does it singularly provide a unique and historical cinema experience, it also provides the largest public civic auditorium and stage in the city. To lose it would be an unrecoverable loss to our city. The El Rey Theater Alliance is a non-profit foundation formed in 2016 with the mission of acquiring, rehabilitating, and operating the El Rey Theater in order to secure its future for generations to come.
