Chico Community Observatory

Fund Purpose

The Chico Community Observatory fund is to help raise money for equipment and labor to complete repairs to the Observatory’s power system, so that we can open the Observatory once again to the public. Once we reopen, this fund will help us with the upkeep/repairs (computer hardware, telescopes, roof replacement) to the Observatory, so we can continue our public outreach, and provide viewing opportunities and education of astronomical events to the community. The Chico Community Observatory is run by volunteers, and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, so donations are tax deductible.

More Info

The Chico Community Observatory provides access to the public, young, and old alike, to come to explore and enjoy the universe through our telescopes and learn from our volunteers about what they are seeing. The public can learn, free of charge, about the constellations, planets, asteroids, comets, stars, galaxies, the Big Bang, space exploration and other amazing celestial events and phenomena. It is our mission to be part of the greater public good to learn about and promote astronomy and science, and allow the public to view first hand the special wonders of the night sky. The Chico Community Observatory is non-profit organization located in Upper Bidwell Park.
