We promote safe cycling for transportation and recreation through education, advocacy and the involvement of the entire community.
As H.G. Wells said, “whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I have hope for the human race.” Bicycling enriches our community by strengthening our bodies, reducing pollution and traffic congestion and encourages civility. You do not have to don fancy pants or invest a small fortune in your bicycle to be a cyclist. Our all-volunteer organization works to welcome you to cycling by promoting campaigns like Bike Chico! during the month of May, Walk and Bike to School Day in October, and offering safety presentations to make you and your kids feel more comfortable on the city streets throughout the year. We are an active voice for the rights of cyclists in city planning and the Chico Bike Plan. Our website contains a wealth of information on how to get started and how to stay safe, in addition to contact forms to make your concerns heard. Chico is considered a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists; the Butte Bicycling Coalition invites you to help pedal us toward Platinum.
