Fund Purpose

North Valley Disaster Relief Grant-Making Committee is an independent committee made up largely of local board members. When the North Valley Community Foundation responds to an emergency, the foundation leverages its resources to solicit and collect donations from the community to support the cause. No fees are collected on these donations, allowing 100% of donated funds to go to disaster response.

While donations are collected, foundation staff contacts organizations who are directly responding to the emergency to locate financial gaps that can be filled with donations made to NVCF. Recommendations are then made to the full North Valley Disaster Relief Grant-Making Committee, who considers the proposals and makes the final decision concerning where the donated funds are granted.

In 2017 we operated seven funds and distributed more than $25,000.
