The Comanche Creek Greenway Improvement Project (adopted by the City Council and the Bidwell Park and Playground Commission in 2012) specifies recreational improvements, pedestrian and bike trails, and other amenities to support public use by surrounding neighborhoods and nearby business employees. The Comanche Creek Greenway Management Plan was also adopted in 2012 in order to support the City’s intention of providing habitat, and public access to, the creek corridor. Our purpose is to help implement these City adopted plans and to supplement the $1M State Housing and Parks Related Grant awarded for capital improvements at CCG by providing volunteer labor and funds for those aspects of the plans that have been allocated little or no money.
The 20-acre City-owned Comanche Creek Greenway (CCG) comprises both “Primary Open Space” and “Secondary Open Space” designated by the Chico General Plan. Our overall goal is to achieve the objectives established by the City adopted Southwest Chico Neighborhood Improvement Plan for the Comanche Creek Corridor. These objectives address Safety, Environmental and Traffic Circulation Issues.
