Camp Fire Relief – Donor FAQs

Thank You!

Your generosity is helping Paradise and Butte County recover from the devastating Camp Fire.
  1. My company / foundation wants to make a donation.
Click here for more information on corporate and foundation gifts.
  2. I want to host an event / start a GoFundMe / raise money at my school, office, church, or social group.
  3. Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! All online donations and all check donations of $250 or more will receive a tax receipt from NVCF, tax ID 68-0161455, per IRS regulations.
  4. Can I mail you a check?
Yes! Send to NVCF Camp Fire Relief, 240 Main St Ste 260, Chico, CA 95928.
  5. How much of my donation goes to fire relief?
Credit card donations are charged a ~2.5% processing fee. 1% of your gift is used by NVCF to put a small dent in the cost of processing, documenting, and most importantly, distributing your funds to the people who need it. All the rest is granted out to the organizations on the ground meeting the needs of evacuees. Click here to see where funds have already been distributed.
  6. I didn’t get a receipt. Can you send me one?
Double check your email spam folder for your receipt. If you can’t find it, email Operations Manager Carolyn Engstrom at cengstrom@nvcf.org to request a duplicate.
  7. How will NVCF spend donors’ money?
For short-term immediate financial needs, the North Valley Community Foundation has formed an internal committee of board members and service providers that consider requests and approve grants on a daily basis. However, our more important role will be to work with community leaders to determine needs and best uses of funds once the fire is out and attention turns to recovery efforts. That phase will be evolving over the next few months and will include collaboration with key funders, local and regional agencies, and direct service providers. Click here to see where funds have already been distributed.
  8. I would like to make a large wire transfer or a gift of stock.
Contact CFO Chris Hayashida-Knight at chknight@nvcf.org for bank routing information on gifts of $100,000 or more only. All gift amounts are welcome by check. For stock gifts, please see: Donating Stock to NVCF
  9. My company will match my donation. Can you fill out this form / click this link / call this number to verify my gift?
Yes, but it may take a while. The best thing for our small staff is for you to facilitate the process by communicating directly with your company’s giving contact and filling out the paperwork for us. That means we’ll spend more time getting resources to Camp Fire survivors and less time doing paperwork. Click here for more information.
  10. I have housing to offer.
