Methods of Giving

Many types of gifts allow your client to fulfill their charitable intentions while resulting in immediate and possible future benefits to them and their family.

Gifts of Cash
Gifts of Securities
Gifts of Real Estate
Gifts that Provide Income
Bequests by Will or Trust

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is an important means to transfer personal or family resources (wealth/ assets) into philanthropy for the benefit of charitable causes and nonprofits—locally, nationally, or internationally.

Endowment Funds

Money donated to the Foundation with the intention that it be invested to generate income for philanthropic purposes. The donor may require that the fund remain intact for a specific period of time or in perpetuity. Giving out a percentage of the fund balance based on the donor’s or advisor’s wishes through outright gifts, grant making, or project oversight.

Individual & Family Funds

Operating much like a personal or family foundation, donors can contribute to their fund when it is most convenient and then recommend gifts over time for charitable purposes. The donor selects a fund name and investment strategy and then makes grants to organizations committed to the causes he or she cares about.

Benefits for Professional Advisors
& Their Clients

Estate planners, financial advisors, and other professional advisors are often asked to suggest the best vehicles for charitable giving. The North Valley Community Foundation offers you and your clients several distinct benefits.

Streamlined Process

NVCF facilitates a process that focuses on your charitable goals and realizing your dreams for social impact.  Creating a charitable fund at NVCF is an easy, low-cost alternative to forming and administering a private foundation or nonprofit organization. Our professional program staff can help you understand community needs, assess local organizations, and direct gift dollars to high-impact areas.

Community Engagement

One of the most powerful advantages NVCF has to offer is an inspiring experience of philanthropy. NVCF includes a network of highly engaged and passionate community members. You don’t have to make social change alone. NVCF is a network of social entrepreneurs, donors, community activists and influencers who desire to be a part of making our community better. This network is involved in both international and social ventures seeking to make a difference in a myriad of ways.

NVCF accepts a wide variety of gifts – including cash, stocks, real estate, and other assets. We can help you create a fund that addresses virtually any charitable purpose.

Strategic Philanthropy

The North Valley Community Foundation specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses create strategic philanthropy plans, working to help you identify the scope of your giving to maximize community impact. Our process of facilitation results in a plan that identifies your giving mission, scope, interests, and procedures. Through this process, we harness your ideas to create grant processes, ventures, and initiatives that lead to tangible outcomes.

Tax Benefits

NVCF offers maximum federal and state tax benefits. As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, donors may deduct contributions as provided in IRC 170 of the U.S. Tax Code. Donor receipts are distributed on a quarterly basis.

Cost Savings

Due to the economies of scale and the charitable mission of the community foundation, we offer these services and products at the lowest cost to the donor.
