A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is granting a wish for a resident at Riverside Convalescent Hospital in Chico, California. Valerie Hess, 60, a resident at Riverside Convalescent Hospital and William “Bill” Shefronick, 96, who resides in Paradise California, are daughter and father. Ms. Hess has expressed her wish to go on a flight with her father since they have never had that opportunity. Mr. Shefronick was a former pilot and owned several planes over the years. When Mr. Shefronick’s daughter was born he choose to sell off his plane and never flew again. A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation has partnered up with the North Valley Community Foundation, Merit Medi-Trans, Chico Air Museum, and the Sub Station Sandwich Shop. On Friday September 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Ms. Hess and Mr. Shefronick will be flying in a Cessna 174 piloted by Justin Phillipson at the Northgate Aviation Chico Jet Center, 109 Convair Avenue located in the Chico Municipal Airport facilities. A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation and the Sub Station Shop will then host a luncheon in honor of Ms. Hess and Mr. Shefronick.
A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is dedicated to making wishes come true for seniors residing in independent, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities in Butte County. A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is a program of the North Valley Community Foundation.
A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is based on the Senior Wishes/New Chapters programs developed by Marquis Healthcare and the Oregon Health Care Foundation. Throughout the state of Oregon many facilities have adopted this program and have provided an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. Some of the wishes that have been granted are airplane rides, fishing trips, attending sporting events, meeting of celebrities, and family reunions.
The goal of A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is to give seniors of our centers a sense of purpose and the possibility that dreams still can come true. A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is partnering with the North Valley Community Foundation to provide an opportunity for individuals and businesses in the community to participate in these wonderful events.
