The North Valley Community Foundation will hold the second annual Swing Fore a Cure golf tournament Monday, Sept. 14, at Butte Creek Country Club, designed to create awareness of the benefits of early cancer detection.The tournament is a scramble format, no handicaps necessary, with prizes awarded for closest to the pin on all par-3s. The field is limited to 128 golfers at a cost of $165, which includes a barbecue lunch, golf shirt and dinner accompanied by a live jazz quartet. Dinner only is $50. Individual entries will be paired with other golfers.There is a drawing, limited to those present, with a cost of $20 per ticket. The winner of the drawing receives a seven-night stay in a one-bedroom condominium at the Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert. Also included are rounds of golf at Palm Valley Country Club and Monterey Country Club.Tournament chair Debbie Maderos also serves as honorary chair with her husband George Maderos, a noted Northern California athlete, coach and former San Francisco 49er.For more information, call 321-8619, or to print an entry form or make a contribution, go to www.nvcf.org and click on "Swing Fore a Cure."
