Chico, California (April 28, 2009) – Local nonprofit leaders have the opportunity to participate in a training on Friday, May 15, 8:30-12:30, provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of the North Valley Community Foundation. This session will feature local author Greg Cootsona, who will provide his ideas on how to create time for the things that will give true purpose to our lives. This is the basis for his just-released book, SAY YES TO NO, a helpful guide for anyone trying to navigate the modern world and still have time for the things that matter most. Greg recently was seen on the CNBC blog and will be featured in USA Weekend in the next few weeks.
Cootsona’s message is a pushback to the pressures of today's high tech, constantly wired world, and especially the stressful world of nonprofit management. Those attending this training will better understand how to balance work/life goals, family obligations, and how to improve life’s most important relationships. They will begin to articulate for themselves the power of no in leadership.
During this class, Cootsona will address the following; the difficulty of saying No in a world that we're always tethered to, what we miss by not saying No more often, the folly of saying Yes to pursuing wealth as an end in itself; the dangers of creeping technology intrusions and the need for rest.
This class is one in a series provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute to increase the effectiveness of management of local nonprofit organizations.
The training is in Chico, at the Training Place on the Chico Campus of Butte Community College, 2320 Forest Avenue. The cost is $60 per person, with discounts available for multiple participants from one organization. For further details and registration, contact NVCF at 891-1150 or register online at www.nvcf.org. Reservations should be made in advance, as registration is limited.
