Chico, California (September 11, 2008) – On October 3, local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in one of a series of trainings provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. The topic will be “Nonprofit Leadership; a Primer for Boards and Senior Staff.” The facilitator for this session will be Laura Cootsona, a local consultant to nonprofit organizations and Director of the Nonprofit Leadership Institute.
This training is designed to help new board members and veterans alike. The course will show how boards can reinvigorate their purpose and their processes. It will also provide information on how to improve interaction with fellow board members and key staff. For Executive Directors, this course will provide information on how to effectively partner with boards and committees, and build a team that will take their organization to the next level.
Specific training topics will include roles and responsibilities, powerful meetings, recruitment of boards, board life cycles and board-staff relations. This training will be of benefit to both staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations, regardless of size.
The training will take place from 9AM-4PM on Friday, October 3, in Chico, at the The Training Place, on the Chico campus of Butte Community College. The cost of this training is $100 per person.
