North Valley Community Foundation Starts Humboldt Fire Funds

Chico, California (June 19, 2008) Three new funds have been created at
North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) to provide donors a way to
direct funds to relief efforts in response to the Humboldt Fire. The
Humboldt Fire Victims’ Fund will be directed to help people who have
lost their homes. The Humboldt Fire Disaster Response Fund will be
directed to nonprofit organizations responding to the fire and its
aftermath. The North Valley Animal Disaster Group Fund goes directly to
this local nonprofit organization that took responsibility for
evacuation and care of animals during the recent fire.

“We are pleased to be able to offer donors an opportunity to respond
to this local disaster in a variety of ways,” states Alexa Valavanis,
NVCF CEO. “We have already received more than $15,000 toward this
effort. Five-thousand dollars came from an anonymous donor, and $10,000
has been directed from the Emil and Leonora Stiefvater Charitable Fund
at NVCF for older adults who lost their home in the fire.”
Contributions can be made on-line at the NVCF website, www.nvcf.org, or
