North Valley Community Foundation Provides Training to Strengthen Local Nonprofits

Chico, California (February 15, 2008) – Local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in a training provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. On March 14, the topic will be “Nonprofit Leadership; a Primer for Boards and Senior Staff.” This class will be presented by Laura Cootsona, primary trainer for the Nonprofit Leadership Institute and a local consultant to nonprofit organizations.

This training is designed to help new staff and board members and veterans alike. The course will show how boards can reinvigorate their purpose and their processes. It will also provide information on how to improve interaction with fellow board members and key staff. For Executive Directors, this course will provide information on how to effectively partner with boards and committees, and build a team that will take their organization to the next level.

Specific training topics will include roles and responsibilities, powerful meetings, recruitment of boards, board life cycles and board-staff relations. This training will be of benefit to both staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations, regardless of size.

The training will take place from 9AM-4PM on Friday, March 14, in Chico, at the Chico Campus of Butte Community College. The cost of this training is $100 per person. The goal of the trainings offered by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute is to help organizations fulfill their missions in sustainable ways. The training will be interactive and designed to stimulate the energy of participants.

The Nonprofit Leadership Institute is a program of North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF).
