New Grants from North Valley Community Foundation Seek to Strengthen Local Nonprofits

Chico, California (February 7, 2007) – Today, North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) announced 15 local grantees for its “Planned Giving Grant Program”. These funds will help local nonprofit organizations create long-term financial sustainability by developing new approaches and strategies to expand public outreach and fundraising. The Foundation is also supporting activity that encourages staff and board training, as well as collaboration with other nonprofit organizations.

These grants mark the Foundation’s continuing interest in the development of the local nonprofit sector. During the past three years the Foundation has granted more than $2 million to the region.

“We are pleased to challenge the local nonprofits to refine their strategies towards securing long-term financial sustainability. This initiative builds on our commitment to provide education, training and resources to the nonprofit sector, as well as, our commitment to launch grant lines that address the needs of our communities,” said Alexa Valavanis, Executive Director of NVCF.

The grantees represent the expanded field of public services available in our communities.
