Chico, California (February 27, 2007) – Local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in the first of a series of trainings provided by the Butte Pioneers Non Profit Leadership Institute. On Friday, March 23, the topic will be “Resource Development for the Nonprofit Organization; Is it all about the money?” The facilitator for this session will be Laura Cootsona, a local consultant to nonprofit organizations and Assistant Director of the Jesus Center.
This training is designed to help organizations deal with the endless shortage of operating and program funds. Participants will learn ways to improve annual fundraising, including special events, direct mail and major donor efforts. They will also be introduced to the topics of planned giving and capital campaigns. The course will provide new ways of planning, creative ways to shift old habits, and methods to communicate the organization’s story to increase community awareness and financial support. It will be of benefit to the needs of both staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations, regardless of size.
The training will take place from 9AM-4PM on March 23, in Chico, at the Mangrove Avenue Training Center of Butte Community Bank. The cost of this training is $75 per person. For further details and registration for the March 23 event, contact NVCF at 891-1150 or online at www.nvcf.org. Reservations should be made in advance, as registration is limited.
The goal of the first trainings offered by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute is to help organizations fulfill their missions in sustainable ways with a renewed board and a new approach toward resource development. The training will be interactive and designed to stimulate the energy of participants. On April 13, the second session of this training series will be offered. The topic will be “Nonprofit Leadership; A primer for boards and senior staff.”
