Local Professional Advisors and Nonprofits Executives Discuss Charitable Giving

Chico, California (Oct. 26, 2006) North Valley Community Foundation presented, to an audience of more than 150 local professional advisors and nonprofits executives, a full-day workshop on planned giving called “North State Planned Giving Summit”.

Seven of the regions’ experts in the area of planned giving presented sessions on issues ranging from “Real Estate Gifts” to “Charitable Tax Law” to “Making the Ask”.

The keynote speaker of the day was local philanthropist, Greg Webb. Greg shared his story, and passion for a local nonprofit he co-founded, called the Esplanade House, a transition home for local families in need.

“The North Valley Community Foundation was thrilled to convene local leaders, experts, professional advisors and nonprofits to discuss charitable giving in the local communities. This ‘Summit’ is the first of many the Community Foundation will present in coming years,” said Alexa Valavanis, Executive Director of the North Valley Community Foundation.

“We are in a position to assist local donors, charities and professional advisors in the area of charitable giving.” Valavanis added. “The stronger the nonprofits in our communities become - the stronger our community becomes.”

The North Valley Community Foundation announced during the ‘Summit’ a Planned Giving Grant Program. Grant applications and guidelines can be downloaded at www.nvcf.org, or contact: Alexa Valavanis at 530-891-1150.
