Is it all about the Money? Training to Strengthen Nonprofits

Chico, California (May 2, 2008) – Local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in training provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. On Friday, May 23, the topic will be “Is it all about the money? Resource Development for the Nonprofit Organizations.” The facilitator for this session will be Laura Cootsona, consultant to nonprofit organizations and Trainer for the Nonprofit Leadership Institute.

This training is designed to help organizations deal with the endless shortage of operating and program funds. Participants will learn ways to improve annual fundraising, including special events, direct mail and major donor efforts. They will also be introduced to the topics of planned giving and capital campaigns. The course will provide new ways of planning, creative ways to shift old habits, and methods to communicate the organization’s story to increase community awareness and financial support. It will be of benefit to both staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations, regardless of size.

The training will take place from 9AM-4PM on May 23, in Chico, at The Training Place, Room 107, Butte Community College, Chico Campus, 2320 Forest Avenue. The cost of this training is $100 per person. For further details and registration for the May 23 event, contact NVCF at 891-1150 or register online at www.nvcf.org. Reservations should be made in advance, as registration is limited.

The goal of this training offered by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute is to help organizations fulfill their missions in sustainable ways with a renewed board and a new approach toward resource development. The training will be interactive and designed to stimulate the energy of participants.
